Helmets, Boots, etc.
HELMETS - locally you can visit Tractor Supply and Arizona Feeds - they both carry a variety of Troxel brand helmets. If you would like to have someone help with a fit and have a larger selection of brands, Greenway English Saddlery is in Phoenix. Helmets must be ASTM/SEI approved and should not be expired or in poor condition. Making sure your helmet fits properly is also important to its functionality.
When looking at helmets, MIPS certifications are a consideration - https://mipsprotection.com/equestrian/.
Once you decide on a helmet, you can look around a bit for best price - State Line Tack often offers good sales https://www.statelinetack.com/.
For information specific to Pony Club requirements for helmets, please see the Pony Club Blog - this has a lot of information and recent updates.
For guidelines on how to choose a helmet please see this article https://www.usef.org/media/equestrian-weekly/equestrian-helmet-fitting-safety.
BOOTS & PANTS - if you are deciding on what kind of boots to purchase for your kiddo - stick with whatever you think they will want to ride the most English or Western - you don't need 2 separate pairs of riding clothes. English Paddock boots can be purchased from Tractor Supply, and riding pants on Amazon. For western jeans and boots, Boot Barn has a decent selection. Pants that have belt loops do need to have a belt.
